Roberto Firmino is poised to depart Liverpool at the end of the season when his contract expires, bringing an end to an eight-year stint at Anfield.
According to Sky Sports and the BBC, the 31-year-old has decided to quit the Reds on a free transfer rather than extend his contract.
Firmino, who has 102 goals in 352 games for Liverpool, has been instrumental in the club’s return to the top of the English and European leagues under Jürgen Klopp.
Since coming from Hoffenheim in 2015, he has won numerous major titles in the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, and FA Cup.
The addition of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo at Anfield has pushed the Brazilian down the pecking order in recent seasons.
Firmino is one of five Liverpool players out of contract this season as the club prepares for a big overhaul.
Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, both midfielders, are also slated to go.
James Milner, 37, and third-choice goalkeeper Adrian’s futures are unknown.
