The death of Gangsta Boo has sent shockwaves throughout the hip-hop world.
The Memphis rapper, 43, was discovered dead on New Year’s Day, and now more information about the possible cause of death is emerging. According to a new report, she may have died due to a drug overdose.
According to sources close to the Three 6 Mafia alum, Gangsta Boo and her brother went to a local concert on Saturday night. Her sibling was rushed to the hospital after an overdose was reported.
He recovered, but narcotics were allegedly discovered on Gangsta Boo when she was found dead on Sunday afternoon. A fentanyl-laced substance is thought to be at work.
Following the tragedy, the hip-hop community, including her former Three 6 Mafia bandmates Juicy J and DJ Paul, mourned her death. Drake, Missy Elliott, and Ty Dolla $ign was among those who paid heartfelt tributes. Rah Digga named Gangsta Boo one of her “top 5 female spitters,” while Killer Mike paid tribute to “Memphis royalty.”
Gangsta Boo, born Lola Mitchell, joined Three 6 Mafia in 1995 and appeared on the group’s first five albums, including their debut Mystic Stylez in 1995. She also released three albums and collaborated with artists such as Gucci Mane, OutKast, Eminem, Latto, and Run the Jewels.
Police have launched an investigation, and an autopsy will be performed to determine the official cause of death.
