The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken decisive action against the headmasters of O’Reilly Senior High School and Ghana Senior High School due to unauthorized sales of items to students. Letters from the Regional Education Offices of Greater Accra and Eastern Region, dated December 6th and 7th, 2023, respectively, notified the headteachers of their interdiction.

Nadia Lartechoe Annan, the headmistress of O’Reilly SHS, received a letter addressing the unauthorized collection of money during the admission process. According to the letter, she is required to step aside for an investigation, in accordance with the Code of Conduct. Ms. Annan has been instructed to hand over all school property to the Municipal Director of Education, Ledzokuku, who will assume oversight responsibility during her absence.

Similarly, Ghana Senior High School headmistress, Patience Naki Mensah, was asked to resign, effective December 7, 2023. The GES cited unauthorized sales of items to Form One students, including ceremonial fabric and tracksuits, as the reason for her interdiction. The letter directed her to step aside to allow for a thorough investigation into the allegations. The outcome of the investigations will determine the fate of the implicated headteachers.

The GES’s letters of interdiction can be found below.
