Newcastle United has officially signed William Osula, the Danish Under-21 striker with Nigerian heritage, from Sheffield United. The 21-year-old forward joins the Magpies in a transfer deal valued at approximately £15 million.

Osula, who was born in Denmark to Nigerian parents, made 31 senior appearances and netted three goals during his time with Sheffield United. Despite the team’s drop to the Championship, his talent has been recognized, earning him five caps for Denmark’s Under-21 squad.

Speaking about his move, Osula expressed his excitement, saying, “Joining Newcastle United is a fantastic opportunity. It’s a big club with a great reputation, and I’m thrilled to be part of it.”

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe revealed that the club had been keeping an eye on Osula for three years, thanks to a tip from assistant manager Jason Tindall. Howe commented, “We’ve been following him closely since his time at Sheffield United. He has the qualities to develop into a top centre-forward, and we’re very excited about his potential.”

Osula’s arrival is Newcastle’s sixth signing of the summer, joining a notable roster that includes Miodrag Pivas, Odysseas Vlachodimos, John Ruddy, Lloyd Kelly, and Lewis Hall.

Although currently representing Denmark’s Under-21 team, Osula remains eligible to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, his country of descent.
