Erik ten Hag expressed his frustration with the media’s reaction to Manchester United’s performance in the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry, defending his team’s achievement in reaching the final for the second consecutive year.

Despite surrendering a 3-0 lead at Wembley and narrowly avoiding defeat in extra time, United secured victory against the Championship side on penalties. This victory sets up a rematch of last year’s final against City.

While Ten Hag acknowledged that his team “got away with it,” he downplayed the idea of embarrassment. However, he faced criticism from pundits and speculation about his future at Old Trafford, with former Premier League striker Chris Sutton suggesting that the performance could lead to his dismissal.

Ahead of United’s Premier League match against Sheffield United, Ten Hag remained defiant, calling the media’s reaction embarrassing. He emphasized the importance of results in top-level football and highlighted his team’s achievement in reaching the final.

United, currently winless in their last four Premier League games, are at risk of missing out on European qualification for next season. Despite their struggles, Ten Hag stressed the need to win every game and secure a European spot through either the league or the FA Cup final.

Ten Hag also discussed plans to work closely with newly appointed technical director Jason Wilcox to shape the club’s future direction. Wilcox’s arrival from Southampton aims to bolster United’s management team and accelerate the decision-making process.
