Sports Development Minister Senator John Enoh has encouraged track and field sensation Tobi Amusan to overcome her Olympic challenges at the upcoming 2024 Olympics.

While Amusan has achieved significant success in various competitions, including three Diamond League gold medals, two Commonwealth Games gold medals, and multiple African Championships and African Games victories, she is yet to secure an Olympic medal after competing in the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 editions. Her closest attempt was in 2020 when she finished fourth.

Despite this, Amusan has qualified to represent Nigeria at the 2024 Olympics in Paris and has been displaying excellent form leading up to the event.

In a remarkable performance on Sunday, May 12, Amusan clocked the fastest time in the women’s 100m hurdles this year, winning her event at the Jamaican Athletics Invitational in Kingston with a time of 12.40 seconds (0.9).

Impressed by her achievement, Minister Enoh praised Amusan on his social media page, acknowledging her victory over world champion Danielle Williams and Christina Clemons. He expressed confidence in Amusan’s potential to make Nigeria proud at the Paris Olympics, highlighting her contribution to breaking barriers for the country in track and field.
