Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has offered support to the Electoral Commission (EC) for the Limited Voter Registration Exercise.
Tanko-Computer stressed the NDC’s readiness to assist the EC in ensuring an accurate electoral roll. In a Zoom interview on TV3, he stated, “The Commission can call on us to help them compute their figures and others if they can’t do it. We’ll be willing to help.”
The EC recently rectified errors in its daily voter registration figures, acknowledging inaccuracies in the initial reports. Initially, the EC stated that 143,014 eligible voters were registered by the fourth day of the exercise. However, a subsequent statement corrected errors in the data for the Upper East region, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the process.
Despite technical challenges in the early days, the EC asserted that the registration process has been smooth nationwide. Samuel Tettey, Deputy EC Chair in Charge of Operations, confirmed during a press conference in Accra that the allotted 21-day period for the exercise is sufficient, ruling out an extension of the deadline
