President Bola Tinubu, in his Independence Day speech, emphasized that without the reforms his administration implemented, Nigeria’s economy could have faced a collapse. Reflecting on the challenges they encountered when taking office, Tinubu shared the difficult choices they had to make.
He highlighted that 16 months ago, when his government assumed leadership, Nigeria was grappling with serious economic and security issues. Faced with a tough decision, they chose to introduce bold reforms to steer the country towards stability and progress.
“When we took over, the economy was struggling, and security was a major concern. We were at a crossroads—either we push forward with reforms or face potential collapse. We chose reform to safeguard our future,” Tinubu said during his speech.
Acknowledging the hardship many Nigerians are experiencing due to rising living costs, the President reassured the nation that efforts are underway to ease the burden and improve the quality of life. He urged citizens to remain patient, promising brighter days ahead and progress on the horizon.
