According to the Eritrean Ministry of Information’s website, Shabait, Eritrea’s President Isaias Afwerki has called on Russia to fulfill its “historical responsibility” of promoting global peace and justice.
Mr. Isaias made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Eritrea and Russia have friendly relations.
Eritrea is one of only a few countries that has opposed UN resolutions condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Mr. Isaias went on to say that “the unipolar world order,” dominated by the United States, had contributed to the world’s “spiral of crises and destruction.”
His four-day trip to Russia followed a similar trip to China, where he met with President Xi Jinping and other senior government officials.
Mr. Isaias has been in power in Eritrea since the country’s independence from Ethiopia in 1993.
