Noel Le Graet had been in charge of the federation since 2011
Noel Le Graet, the president of the French Football Federation (FFF), resigned on Tuesday, according to a French media outlet.
According to the French sports daily L’Equipe, Noel Le Graet “as expected” presented his resignation from the presidency of the federation during the executive committee.
Prosecutors in Paris opened an investigation into sexual harassment claims made by football agent Sonia Souid against Le Graet in January.
He stepped down as federation president just days after making disparaging remarks about football legend Zinedine Zidane. He also expressed regret for his remarks.
The 81-year-old was accused of sexual harassment on multiple occasions, and the federation is also the subject of an investigation ordered by France’s Sports Minister, Amelie Oudea-Castera.
Le Graet, who has led the FFF since 2011, was re-elected to a four-year term in March.
