Selena Gomez recently opened up about a deeply personal aspect of her life, revealing that due to health reasons, she is unable to carry her own child. In a candid interview with Vanity Fair, the singer and actress shared the emotional impact of this realization.
“I’ve never spoken about this before, but I can’t carry my own children. I have several medical issues that would put both my life and the baby’s at risk. It took me a while to come to terms with that,” Selena said.
The news, she admitted, was hard to accept, as it clashed with her earlier hopes of what her journey to motherhood would look like.
“I always thought it would happen like it does for everyone else. But I’ve come to peace with it. I’m grateful for the options of surrogacy and adoption, which are both paths I’m considering,” she explained.
Despite the difficulties, Selena remains optimistic and excited about becoming a mother, no matter what the process looks like.
“I’m looking forward to the journey, even if it’s different from what I imagined. In the end, it doesn’t matter—it will be my baby, and that’s all that counts,” she said.
Reflecting on her love life, Selena shared that her priorities shifted during her single years. “Before I met my boyfriend, I was single for five years, aside from a few dates. During that time, I realized the most important thing to me is family,” she added.
Her honesty shows her resilience and hope, as she continues to embrace the possibilities of building a family in her own unique way.
