Nick Carter is refuting the shocking allegations that he sexually assaulted a fan in 2001 when she was underage.
The Backstreet Boys member’s attorney Michael Holtz claimed in a statement received by Page Six that “this claim regarding an incident that reportedly took place more than 20 years ago is not only legally meritless but also totally incorrect.”
“Unfortunately, Ms. Ruth has been duped into making false accusations against Nick for a number of years; these accusations have altered frequently and dramatically over time. There is absolutely no truth to this accusation, as the courts will swiftly understand, therefore no one should be duped by a press stunt organized by an opportunistic lawyer.
In a news conference on Thursday, Shannon “Shay” Ruth criticized Carter, 42, for allegedly abusing her when she was just 17 years old.
Even though I have cerebral palsy and am autistic, the now-39-year-old woman claimed that Nick Carter’s actions and words toward her were the most significant and enduring events in her life.
I recall him calling me a “re—-ed bitch,” seizing me and leaving bruises on my arm after the rape. Along with three other unnamed plaintiffs known only as Jane Does, Ruth also filed a lawsuit on Thursday alleging that Carter had sexually abused them.
The pop musician allegedly enticed Ruth aboard his tour bus following a show in Tacoma, Washington, and handed her a crimson drink, which Ruth now believes was a combination of alcohol and cranberry juice.
The virginal young fan was allegedly taken by Carter to a bed on the tour bus, where he allegedly continued to assault her sexually. In addition, Ruth asserted in her press conference on Thursday that she became infected with HPV, a sexually transmitted disease, as a result of her interactions with Carter.
The woman stated, “Nick Carter is not exempt from his crimes just because he is a celebrity.” “I am and always will be a survivor.”
