Thousands of displaced people have arrived in Beni, the regional capital of Ituri province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to aid workers in the province.
They are fleeing a series of attacks in the province by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) Islamist rebels.
Over the last week, at least 18 villages have been attacked, killing more than 90 people.
Attempts by the armies of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda to crush the rebels have made little progress.
