The US government has sanctioned four Sudanese companies and individuals for fueling the conflict between rival military forces.
The sanctions, it said, would cut off key financial flows to the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which rely heavily on funds from the country’s gold mines.
Seven weeks of conflict have displaced nearly 1.5 million people.
At least 18 civilians were killed on Wednesday during fighting between rival military forces at a market in southern Khartoum.
