Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and Chairman of the Police Council, praised the transformative initiatives implemented by Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. He highlighted the positive changes these initiatives have brought to the Police Service, making the country safer and strengthening the connection between the Police and the public.

During the commissioning of the Ghana Police Service Shop at the Police headquarters on July 17, 2024, Vice President Bawumia expressed the government’s pride in the IGP and his team’s accomplishments. He remarked, “Ladies and gentlemen, the people of Ghana have witnessed the significant transformation of the Police Service under this administration. The improvements at the National Police Headquarters, the expansion and decentralization of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) across all twenty-five (25) Police Regions, increased police visibility, decentralization of police background checks, active community and stakeholder engagements, enhanced intelligence operations, uniform standardization, and the Snatch Them Young Policing Initiative for school children are among the many initiatives that have made policing more responsive, accountable, and effective.”

The Vice President further commended the IGP and all police officers for their dedication to the Police transformation agenda and encouraged them to continue their efforts, especially with the upcoming general election on December 7th.

The Police shop, located at the headquarters, offers security service officers additional uniform items and institutional souvenirs for international exchange programs. This ensures officers maintain a professional appearance and have the necessary resources to fulfill their duties effectively.
