Siri, Apple’s intelligent assistant, has a few new tricks up her sleeve.
The voice-controlled virtual assistant, which is installed on all Apple devices, can perform a variety of amusing tasks, such as casting Harry Potter spells.
Apple, on the other hand, has taught Siri how to make your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch experiences even more hands-free.
Siri now has the ability to convert text into emojis.
This new and unexpected feature improves hands-free text messaging while driving.
These Siri skills, however, require an iPhone XS or later and iOS 16 or later.
All you have to do is speak your text aloud, just like you would with Siri.
And to add an emoji, simply say the emoji name followed by the word “emoji.”
As an example: “Hiya. The traffic is terrible. I’ll be late for dinner by 15 minutes. *crying face emoji * Sorry. I’ll see you soon.”
Apple’s iOS 16, which was released in June of last year, also allows Siri to perform another new skill.
Siri can now be programmed to send text messages automatically.
This eliminates the need for you to manually confirm that you want the message to be delivered.
To set this up, head to Settings > Siri & Search > Automatically Send Messages.
From there, you can specify where you want Siri to send messages automatically.
You can combine three options: CarPlay, headphones, and hearing aids.
Siri can now be asked to restart your iPhone.
To restart an iPhone, users had to hold a combination of buttons or navigate through Settings.
While those methods are still valid, iPhone users can tell Siri to “restart iPhone” and the virtual assistant will do the job if your phone is unlocked.
