The junta, led by Gen Abdourahmane Tchiani, has issued a warning against any attempts to overthrow them, accusing members of the ousted government of plotting against them from foreign embassies. They have emphasized that such attempts could result in violence, which they have managed to avoid so far.
Gen Abdourahmane Tchiani is relatively unknown, but some believe that his fellow soldiers fear him, leading to minimal resistance during his takeover.
Opinions among ordinary people are divided, with some questioning the reasons behind the coup, stating that the security situation wasn’t as dire as claimed. Others, however, believe that change was necessary.
