In a piece on the mayhem at Yeezy that was published by Rolling Stone, more than a dozen employees were interviewed. They shared their harrowing tales of working for West, including one who was supposedly fired because they liked Drake.
Ye was in his office with his design team weeks before the release of his first Yeezy collection in 2015. Someone suggested he play something different while he was playing his own music through the speakers.
Before asking one of his staff members for advice, West took a look around the room. The employee, who preferred punk and rock music, claimed that Drake was chosen as the solution after they were caught off guard and searching for an answer.
The employee, who had previously worked with Yeezy, said, “Oh, he’s a rapper, I should definitely include some rap.”
However, his decision would ultimately cost him his job. Big error, I got fired the next day, the ex-employee alleged.
Although the exact chronology of the incident is unknown, it appeared to take place in the midst of Ye and Drake’s protracted argument and before their December 2021 reunion.
Drake made the suggestion that Ye and he haven’t actually made up since they shared a stage at the “Free Larry Hoover” concert in Los Angeles.
