Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have officially finalized their divorce.
The former couple has come to a deal on child custody and property-related problems over two years after Kim filed for divorce. The agreement was reached on Monday, the night before Ye was scheduled to be questioned in preparation for a potential trial the following month.
Kim and Kanye will have “equal access” to their four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, according to TMZ. Although Ye already admitted it, insiders tell the newspaper that Kim will be the children’s primary caretaker.
Kanye has agreed to pay Kim $200,000 per month in child support, which is only his portion of the overall cost. Additionally, he will be liable for paying half of their tuition costs and half of their security costs for their education. Kim and Kanye have committed to mediation in the event that a conflict arises affecting their kids. In the event that one of them abstains, the other will be forced to make the choice.
Their prenuptial agreement will determine how their property is shared. The $60 million Hidden Hills property where their children were raised is already owned by Kim. She consented to provide Kanye cash in October 2021 to balance the value of the property.
Ye will also transfer ownership of the $4.5 million house he bought in December 2021 directly across from Kim. She will be liable for all costs associated with the land that adjoins her lot.
The journey to finalizing the divorce has been a long one. Ye has used six different attorneys and disregarded depositions. According to a source, “Kim’s patience was put to the test, but she handled things calmly and Kanye eventually came around.”
According to TMZ, Laura Wasser, Kim’s attorney, actively participated in the settlement by negotiating the unresolved concerns. Both Kim and Kanye waived spousal support, as stated in the prenup.
In February 2021, Kim filed for divorce from her husband of almost seven years. Kim sought a judge in March to declare her legally single after the divorce process stagnated, with the issues of child custody and financial resources to be resolved later.
