Libya’s government of national unity claims to have carried out air strikes against criminal gangs involved in human, drug, and fuel trafficking.
Residents in Zawiya’s western city reported hearing explosions.
It has seen sporadic clashes between factions supporting and opposing the Tripoli-based administration, one of Libya’s two rival governments.
It is not known if it has its own air force, but it has previously used drones belonging to its Turkish military allies.
Libya is still in political turmoil following the failure of an UN-backed process to unite the country’s divided factions last year.
