Gunmen have attacked a hospital in central Nigeria, killing many people while kidnapping staff members, patients, and family members.
Sani Bello, the governor of the Niger state, criticized the raid on the Gulu general hospital in the Lapai region as insensitive and inhumane.
Although the number of those involved in the incident that took place in the wee hours of Tuesday is unknown, a local said that three people had been killed and about 20 had been abducted.
One of the states that have been severely impacted by an ongoing wave of kidnappings and murders by armed gangs is Niger.
