Saudi Arabia has confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, marking the start of the 12th month in the Islamic calendar.
Eid Al-Adha, the most significant Islamic festival, occurs on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah. This festival, celebrated by Muslims worldwide, is the second major Islamic event after Eid-ul-Fitr.
In an announcement made on Thursday, Saudi Arabia declared that Friday would be the beginning of this holy month.
Additionally, the Hajj pilgrimage for 1445 AH (2024) is set to begin on Friday, June 14, with the Day of Arafah on Saturday, June 15. Consequently, Eid Al-Adha will be observed on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
The Saudi Supreme Court had earlier called on Muslims throughout the Kingdom to observe the crescent moon of Dhul Hijjah to confirm the start of the new month and determine the exact day of the festival.
