The Supreme Court of Nigeria overturned the ban on the use of old N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes as legal tender today, March 3rd, according to Vanguard.
A seven-member panel of justices ruled that the old Naira notes should remain legal tender until December 31, 2023.
Justice Emmanuel Agim delivered the decision, which stated that the old Naira notes should be used alongside the redesigned currencies in the future.
The Supreme Court issued its decision in the case brought against the Federal Government over the Naira redesign policy by sixteen federation states.
