Kid Cudi is working on his “album of the year.”
After hinting at his retirement last year, the rapper-actor has announced that he’s back in the studio working on new music. Cudi took to Instagram Live on Wednesday to share plans for what he calls the best music of his career.
“I’ve never made such a powerful project in my life,” he told fans. “As I sit here listening to these mixes, I just know that this shit will move you. You guys are going to f**k with this s**t in a big way, and I am so excited. I just wanted to come on here and let you know that I’m not going to let you down.”

Despite the fact that it is only March, Cudi believes he has the album of the year. “Right now, this is going to be the album of the year. I’m not taking part. This is not a joking matter. Inform everyone you fu**ing know.”
The untitled project will be released in the fall, with the first single arriving on June 1st, along with a video directed by Cudi. “I have to say… “You haven’t heard me like this before,” Cudi, who had previously considered retiring, revealed.
“The Kid Cudi stuff, I think I want to put it on the back burner and chill out with that. I believe I am ready to be done with it. “I think we’re closing the chapter on Kid Cudi,” he said in an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music.

His previous album, 2022’s Entergalactic, which he described as the “greatest piece of art I’ve ever made,” featured Ty Dolla $ign, Don Toliver, and 2 Chainz. It was made to accompany his animated Netflix special, which was directed by Kenya Barris.
Cudi also intends to embark on a world tour in 2024. But first, he’ll perform at the HARD Summer Music Festival in Los Angeles in August.
