The Codeco militia group executed 17 people it had captured in the Djugu territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Sunday.
According to UN-sponsored Radio Okapi, the victims were passengers on four vehicles traveling to Mungwalu in Ituri province.
They were kidnapped after three Codeco members were killed in a clash with a rival militia, according to the radio.

A pregnant woman was among those kidnapped, according to the AFP news agency.
The attack has yet to be commented on by local authorities.
The Codeco militia, which claims to protect the Lendu farming community in Ituri, is one of many armed groups operating in the volatile, mineral-rich region.
