As previously reported, hundreds of people have invaded a farm owned by Kenya’s former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family as protests over the country’s high living costs erupt.
The invaders used power saws to cut down trees and stole hundreds of livestock from the massive farm on the outskirts of Nairobi.
The vast tract of land has been set aside for high-end housing development.
During the incident, there were no police or security personnel on the scene.
Local journalists covering the invasion were also attacked by the mob, and businesses near the farm were closed.
Raila Odinga, the leader of the opposition, has called for nationwide protests in response to allegations that last year’s elections were rigged.
He also claims that President William Ruto has failed to address the country’s high cost of living.
Mr. Odinga, a former prime minister, was defeated by Mr. Ruto in the August elections. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta backed him.
