Jhené Aiko has been relatively quiet in the music industry, but that is about to change.
The R&B singer surprised fans on Tuesday by previewing a brand-new song on Instagram. Jhené’s angelic vocals and upbeat lyrics accompanied the blissful track, which does not have a title.
“I’m happy with my life / I don’t just survive, I thrive,” she sings. “What a miracle to be alive and well / Sending love to those who are still fighting / I cannot relate to the hatred that they created in their minds.”
Despite her pain, the mother of two continues to sing. “You lift me up, you give me so much power when I’m down in the dumps, down on my luck, down in my darkest hour.”

Jhené hasn’t released solo music since her 2020 album Chilombo, but new music appears to be on the way. Ketrina “Taz” Askew, her manager, reposted the song on her Instagram Story and declared that a “new @jheneaiko era is upon us.”
“We’re going back to simpler times when we just put music out for the love of it,” Taz explained. “Please accept my apologies, @defjam, and team; this one is for the Soulmates.”
Jhené Aiko and Big Sean have also been working on new material. Sean announced in February 2022 that they were working on a follow-up to TWENTY88’s 2016 debut.
“I’m working on a new album and new TWENTY88, me and Jhené,” he said on Instagram Live to Queen Naija. “We’ve been working on it for a while.” But it’s getting there.”
The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Noah, in November.
