Oprah Winfrey is speaking out about the upcoming coronation. During a CBS Mornings appearance, the 69-year-old media personality was asked if she thought Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should attend King Charles III’s upcoming coronation.
“I believe they should do what they believe is best for themselves and their families.” “That’s what I believe,” she stated. “That’s what it all boils down to.” “What do you believe is the best thing for you?”
Oprah, who attended the couple’s wedding in 2018 and interviewed them in a shocking television event, went on to say that Harry and Meghan “haven’t asked me my opinion” on the situation.
Oprah’s statement comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s spokesperson told ET that the couple has been invited to the May coronation via email.
“The Duke has recently received email correspondence regarding the coronation from His Majesty’s office,” the representative said. “At this time, we will not make an immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend.”
While Harry and Meghan, who have two children, Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, have yet to decide whether or not to attend, a source previously told ET that Charles wants the couple to be present on his special day.
“Of course, Charles wants his son to be present at the coronation.” It is a watershed moment in his life. “He adores both of his sons and wishes to see Prince Harry,” the source said. “King Charles wishes to repair the family relationship.”
According to another source, “King Charles very much wants Prince Harry and his grandchildren at his coronation.”
“Despite any issues or difficulties that have arisen as a result of what has been revealed in Harry’s book, Charles loves his son.” “He wants both of his children to be there for such a special occasion,” the source said. “The family wants the king to be happy, and having his son travel from America at such a critical juncture in his life will make Charles happy.”
“Harry will be welcomed by his family because his father values it,” the source added. “There will be no visible signs of conflict or focus on past family squabbles.” Everyone wants the coronation to be the center of attention.”
