Shakira has issued an impassioned plea for privacy after packing her belongings and fleeing Spain for the United States.
Following her dramatic split from ex Gerard Piqué, the singer flew 4,684 miles from Barcelona to Miami with her sons Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8.
In a desperate attempt to restart her life, the singer has now asked fans to respect her sons’ privacy as they settle into their new lives in Florida.
According to Instagram’s translation, she wrote in her lengthy caption, “Dear friends, journalists, and media.”

“As they embark on a new chapter in their lives, I implore the media to respect my children’s right to privacy.”
“I trust that journalists and photographers are sensitive to Milan and Sasha’s situation and can act in the most humane way possible with them, given that this is the health and physical and emotional integrity of two under 8 and 10 years of just wishing they could go out on the street and attend school feeling safe and having the peace of mind not being chased or subjected to constant surveillance of cameras,” the “Hips Don’t Lie” hitmaker continued.
“I am not extending this petition as an artist, but as a mother who wants to protect and care for her children’s psychological and emotional well-being so that they can live a healthy and happy life, as every child deserves,” the adoring mother added.
Shakira announced her divorce from her soccer star ex in June 2022, after nearly 11 years together.
In January, Page Six reported that Piqué had an affair with his now-girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.
According to reports, the 46-year-old discovered the athlete’s cheating when she noticed her jam supply was running low.
She later alluded to the bizarre ordeal in her music video “Te Felicito.”
During an interview on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” in March, Shakira addressed the breakup, explaining that she had a “rough” year and had to put up with “so much crap.”
“I really felt like I didn’t have any fans out there,” she explained. “I have a sisterhood of women who have been through the same things I have, who think the same way I think, who feel the same way I feel, who have had to put up with as much crap as I have.”
Gerard refuses to apologize for his actions, despite her heartbreak. Last month, he stated that he is “very happy” and “faithful” to himself.
“I’m not going to spend money on improving my image,” the 36-year-old said. “Things have changed in my life, and I’ve learned how to keep my happiness.”
