Ariana Grande got candid about body image in a new TikTok, noting that “you never know what someone is going through” after fans raised “concerns” over her physical appearance.
Ariana Grande has spoken out about her changing physical appearance.
On TikTok, the pop star addressed fan “concerns” about her body, saying she wanted to talk about “what it means to be a person with a body and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to.”
“I know personally for me, the body you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body,” Grande said of previous years’ images. “I was on a lot of antidepressants, drinking on them, eating poorly, and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my ‘healthy,’ but that wasn’t my ‘healthy,'” she says.
Ariana has previously spoken out about her struggles with anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder following the 2017 Manchester bombing.
Though the singer stated that she “shouldn’t have to explain” her body, she believes “something good” will come from her “vulnerability,” noting that “healthy can look different” for everyone.

In the April 11 video, she added, “You never know what someone is going through.” “So, even if you’re coming from a loving and caring place, that person is probably working on it or has a support system with whom they’re working on it, and you never know, so be gentle with each other and with yourself.”
She has asked fans to be “gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies, no matter what” as she continues to film Wicked. Even if the remarks were “well-intended,” Ariana added, “we just shouldn’t” discuss physical appearances.
“I think we should help each other work on ways to compliment someone—or to ignore something that you see that you don’t like,” she continued. “We just want to be safer and keep each other safer.” There are numerous types of beautiful. There are numerous approaches to looking healthy and beautiful.”

She ended her message by joking that she’s not “wearing eyelashes or eyeliner right now,” before adding, “This is my face, these are my eyes, so don’t freak out about that now too, please.”
Ariana, who will marry real estate broker Dalton Gomez in 2021, concluded with an empowering message for her fans.
“I think you’re beautiful regardless of what’s going on,” she said. “I just think you’re beautiful and wanted to share some feelings, regardless of your weight, how you like to do your makeup these days, what cosmetic procedures you’ve had or not, or anything.”
