When the bride works in the wedding industry, she’s seen a lot. Marina, today’s lovely bride, is a makeup artist who knew she wanted a day filled with rich hues and luxe details. Dane, the groom, is a woodworker, so they’re both extremely creative.
Marina explains: “We have a quirky sense of music and possibly style…” We kept it classy and elegant, but with a dark twist! And it turns out that what she thought she wanted in the first place (a very simple and minimalist gown) was not what she fell in love with.
That just goes to show that sometimes you see a picture-perfect wedding and want to recreate it, but it’s perfectly fine to change things up and go with what feels more *YOU.* In fact, we beg you. Always, always, always make things more about you and your love. Oh, and wait until you see the groom’s dapper suit—we’re obsessed!
Let’s go to Woodland, Washington, to see the day Keen Events is planned, as captured by Naba Zabih Photography!

Their Stylish Threads

Marina explains, “I walked into Jaclyn’s Bridal in Costa Mesa on a completely random day while visiting family in California.” I fell in love with someone who was the polar opposite of what I was looking for. I wanted something simple and elegant, but as I tried on dresses, I fell in love with all of the glitzy, lace dresses that were more princess-like.
It turns out that I’m a little more “extra” than I thought! To make it my own, I had her remove all of the fluff and add 3D lace flowers. The most beautiful gown I’d ever seen.

How dapper is Dane in this burgundy suit? Here are a few other threads we dig:
The Enchanting Ceremony

That burgundy floral arch and all the greenery!Blue Floral Company let the natural beauty of the surroundings shine through while complementing it and adding a woodsy *pop.*

Processional: Intro by The XX
Recessional: Someday by The Growlers
First Dance: The Boat Song by The Black Angels

I spy a marble-inspired vow book. How cute is that?!

The vows. The vows. The vows.
The Newlyweds

Talk about sultry! How stunning is this photo?!

Marina is a makeup artist, so she did her own makeup…as well as WOW. What a sight!

The Moody Reception

Everything tied in the burgundy hues so elegantly. Don’t you think?

It was all about their love and being surrounded by those who meant the most to them at the end of the day. Nothing could be more romantic than this.
Congratulations, you two!!
