According to the Sudanese Doctors’ Union, nearly 100 civilians have been killed on the third day of fighting between the army and a rival paramilitary force.
Residents in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum reported sustained gunfire on Monday, and fighting was also reported in other cities across the country.
It is unknown how many soldiers have been killed, but dead bodies have been found in the streets.
Many homes and automobiles have been destroyed.
Regional leaders plan to travel to Sudan on Monday to try to end the fighting that has halted all aid operations.
The country is in desperate need of assistance due to a severe drought.
