Tottenham has fired interim manager Cristian Stellini after less than a month in charge.
Spurs’ humiliating 6-1 loss to Newcastle on Sunday prompted the decision. a performance that chairman Daniel Levy described as “wholly unacceptable”
“Sunday’s performance against Newcastle was wholly unacceptable,” Levy said in a statement. It was heartbreaking to witness. We can look at many reasons why this happened, and while I, the board, the coaches, and the players must all take collective responsibility, ultimately the blame falls on my shoulders.
“Cristian and his coaching staff will leave their current positions.” Cristian stepped in during a difficult period in our season, and I want to thank him for the professionalism with which he and his coaching staff handled themselves during such a difficult time. We wish him and his team the best of luck.

“Ryan Mason will take over as head coach immediately.” Ryan is well-versed in the club and its players. In due course, we will provide an update on his coaching staff.
“I met with the player committee today; the team is determined to work together to finish the season as strongly as possible.” We are all in agreement that we must deliver performances worthy of your incredible support.”
Stellini, 48, was appointed on March 26 and only managed four games before being fired.
Ryan Mason, who served as interim coach after Jose Mourinho was fired in 2021, will now return as acting coach.
