Abuja, Nigeria –In a devastating turn of events that unfolded Saturday, a mother tragically lost her life while trying to intervene in a heated altercation between her two sons Inusa and Usman. The incident occurred in the bustling neighborhood of the Kpaduma II area of Asokoro in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,
leaving residents shocked and grieving the untimely demise of a beloved community member.
According to eyewitnesses, the dispute between the siblings escalated rapidly, taking a violent turn. The concerned mother, Mrs.
Zainab Ibrahim rushed to diffuse the conflict and protect her children from harm. As she bravely stepped between her sons, Their mother came in and tried to separate them. Inusa, however, left and went to bring a machete with which he intended to use on his brother in the process, he mistakenly cut his mother on her left hand.
Local authorities swiftly responded to distress calls, She was taken to a private hospital where she died.”
The news of her passing sent shockwaves through the community, leaving friends, relatives, and neighbors grappling with a profound sense of loss.
Speaking to our reporters, A resident of the area who gave his name as Saliu Shehu said Zainab was rushed to a private hospital where she died.
He said, “The two brothers are of the same parents. They were engaging in a serious fight. Their mother came in and tried to separate them. Inusa, however, left and went to bring a machete with which he intended to use on his brother in the process, he mistakenly cut his mother on her left hand. She was taken to a private hospital where she died.”
When contacted, FCT command spokesperson Josephine Adeh said Inusa was still at large and that an investigation was underway.
“We received a distress call and rushed to the scene,” she explained. The mother was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. Usman is in custody, but Inusa is still at large. However, an investigation into the matter is ongoing.”
