A lot is going on in Halle Bailey’s world, and happily, she has DDG by her side to help her through it all. Rumors of a breakup between the two began to circulate on the internet only days before her highly anticipated debut as the lead in The Little Mermaid next Friday (May 26). Bailey’s new People interview, however, was released yesterday (May 17), revealing the young pair is stronger than ever.
“Halle Bailey on Her Fairy-Tale Romance with Rapper DDG: Young Love Is ‘Transformative,'” the article says. The piece is entirely focused on how her relationship has aided her growth at this point in her life.
“I think the best thing about young love is that you’re able to continue to find yourself through this journey of loving somebody else,” she told the publication. “And you’re discovering new aspects of yourself and possibly things about your heart that you weren’t aware of before.”
The two artists openly acknowledged their relationship in 2022 and have been seen on red carpets together ever since. When asked if DDG was her “true Prince Charming,” the “Do It” singer said, “Yeah. That’s what I’d say.”
Bailey concluded by discussing self-discovery. “I believe that when love becomes more involved in your life, things change. I’ve definitely found more about myself as a woman… “It’s an amazing thing to go through, but it’s also a transformative experience,” she remarked.
Within the previous two weeks, the internet has not been kind to the pair. A pop culture Twitter account posted, “Halley Bailey and E-list rapper DDG are rumored to have broken up.” DDG responded to the viral tweet by stating it was “pretty funny” and brushed it off.
As the internet fuels speculation that the two are feuding, the Pontiac rapper is releasing his “I’m Geekin’ (Remix)” tomorrow (May 19), and Bailey is due to make history on the big screen the following week.
