The Nigerian anti-narcotics agency seized a 30kg shipment of methamphetamine worth $1.2 million (£960,000) that was to be shipped to the United Kingdom via Lagos’ main airport.
According to a statement issued by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Sunday, the methamphetamine shipment was hidden in powdered custard containers as part of a consolidated cargo bound for London.
According to the NDLEA, suspected drug baron Charles Chinedu Eze and two others were apprehended at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
Detectives also seized Mr. Eze’s property in the affluent Lekki suburb after discovering his personal identification documents during a search.
The main suspect is said to have fled the UK in December 2022 after allegedly being involved in a drug-related offense.
He has yet to respond to the accusations.
