The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has reported the deaths of 10 of its citizens following an attack on a university campus in Khartoum, Sudan on Sunday.
According to a statement released by the DRC’s foreign affairs ministry, the country expressed profound sadness upon learning about the loss of its citizens at the International University of Africa. Minister Christophe Lutundula indicated that there were indications that the air strikes targeted an area occupied by civilians, including foreign nationals, and resulted in the injury of additional Congolese individuals who were unarmed.

The minister stated that the DRC government is awaiting further information from Sudanese authorities to gain more clarity on the incident. Khartoum has been a site of ongoing conflict between the national army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 15, with innocent civilians becoming victims of the clashes.
The government of the DRC has appealed for the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to facilitate the evacuation of injured citizens and others who remain stranded in Khartoum.
