Global Citizen Returns to New York City with Star-Studded Music Festival.
Mark your calendars for September 23rd as Global Citizen announces its highly-anticipated return to New York City with an extraordinary music festival set to take place at the iconic Great Lawn of Central Park. This year’s lineup is nothing short of spectacular, featuring renowned artists such as Lauryn Hill, Megan Thee Stallion, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Conan Gray, and many more.
This free but ticketed event holds significant importance as it is a pivotal component of Global Citizen’s overarching campaign, aptly named “End Extreme Poverty NOW: For the Planet, For Equity, For Food, and For Jobs.” The purpose of this initiative is to mobilize millions of individuals, united by the influential voices of celebrated musicians, to call upon world leaders attending the United Nations General Assembly in September to take action.

As stated on the organization’s website, “For the first time in a generation, the number of people living in extreme poverty is rising. The impacts of the climate crisis on the Global South, the inequalities faced by women and girls worldwide, the urgent hunger crisis, and the diminishing space for civic engagement across the globe—these colossal issues necessitate a global movement of people demanding transformative change.”
Global Citizen’s music festival serves as a platform to amplify these crucial messages, utilizing the power of music and the collective voice of artists and attendees alike to create a real and lasting impact. It is an opportunity for individuals to come together, champion important causes, and ignite positive change on a global scale.
Don’t miss out on this momentous event that brings music, activism, and advocacy to the heart of New York City. Join Global Citizen in their mission to tackle extreme poverty, promote equity, combat climate change, address food security, and fight for equal opportunities and rights for all. Together, we can make a difference.

Since its inception in 2012, the Global Citizen Festival has been more than just an entertainment event. It has become a powerful tool in the organization’s mission to address pressing global issues such as poverty, climate change, gender inequality, hunger, and the diminishing space for civic engagement.
Hugh Evans, CEO and co-founder of Global Citizen emphasized the need for urgency and collaboration, stating, “To achieve breakthroughs in development and combat climate change, it is crucial for countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and all G7 nations to come together. Every individual has a vital role to play, and our focus must be laser-sharp on driving results and making a real impact in September.”
Recently, Megan Thee Stallion and Lauryn Hill took center stage at the 2023 ESSENCE Festival, a five-day celebration marking the 50th anniversary of hip hop. The event featured an incredible lineup including Jermaine Dupri, Janelle Monáe, Ice Cube, and many other talented artists who brought their energy and creativity to the stage.
These moments of artistic expression, activism, and community serve as a testament to the power of music and culture in driving positive change. The Global Citizen Festival and events like the ESSENCE Festival create spaces for dialogue, awareness, and collective action. They remind us of the impact we can make when we come together to tackle global challenges and strive for a better future.
Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to participate in the Global Citizen movement as we join forces to create a world where everyone can thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.
