Ecowas to Hold Summit in Abuja Amid Niger Crisis
West Africa’s Ecowas will convene a summit in Abuja, Nigeria, to address the ongoing crisis in Niger after the military coup. The regional bloc had issued a seven-day ultimatum for the coup leaders to restore the elected president, warning of potential military intervention. However, the deadline has passed without any resolution. In a show of support, a delegation from the military governments of Mali and Burkina Faso is heading to Niger to stand in solidarity with the junta.
