Despite recent reports, insiders close to Rihanna have dispelled rumors suggesting that the singer has inked a multi-year deal with Live Nation for an upcoming global tour.
Initial claims from The Mirror stated that RiRi had secured a £32 million ($39 million) agreement with the concert promotion giant. Entertainment Tonight further stoked the speculations on Monday (Oct. 23) by hinting at an arena tour planned for 2024 through 2025.
However, a source with inside knowledge of the situation has contradicted these reports. According to Billboard, the $39 million figure appears questionable, and they asserted, “No tour has been confirmed for Rihanna.”
It’s worth noting that Live Nation has not yet made any venue reservations, a standard early step in arranging a large-scale tour. In such cases, promoters usually secure multiple dates at various locations to map out a potential tour route for the artist.
Fans’ anticipation for another Rihanna tour and new music remains unmatched. With 14 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, she is one of the most commercially successful artists in history. However, the Barbadian singer’s last tour was in 2016 for ANTI.
Since then, she has only performed three times, including appearances at this year’s Super Bowl and Oscars.
In an interview with British Vogue, RiRi expressed her desire to release new music: “I realized that if I keep waiting until this feels right, perfect, and better. Maybe it’s going to keep taking forever, and maybe it’ll never come out, and no, I’m not down for that. So, I want to play. And by play, I mean I have my ideas in my head, but I can’t say them out loud yet.”
Rihanna’s various business ventures have kept her extremely busy. Her business empire, which includes Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty, is estimated to be worth $1.4 billion. In addition to her professional commitments, the singer recently became a mother for the second time, welcoming Riot Rose with A$AP Rocky in August.
