Polygamy is not a new phenomenon in Ghana, but tying the knot with more than one partner on the same day is a rarity.
Fast forward to March 2022, and a Ghanaian man who gained widespread attention for marrying two women simultaneously celebrated the first anniversary of this unique union. Babangida Adamu Sadiq joined in matrimony with Maimuna Mahmud and Maryam Muhammad Na’ibi on March 6, 2021. Reflecting on their first year together, Sadiq took to his Facebook page to express gratitude, stating, “Only good and pure hearts can create such a heavenly union. I’m thankful to Allah for blessing me with such wonderful wives.”
It’s worth noting that, unlike Christian traditions, Muslims have the flexibility to enter into marriages with as many wives as they can responsibly care for.
