The release of Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s much-anticipated project, Vultures, seems to have faced yet another delay. Initially scheduled for December 15, 2023, and later pushed to New Year’s Eve, representatives for Kanye confirmed last month that the new release date is January 12.
A source from Kanye’s camp shared the latest update with Forbes on Tuesday, stating, “The album is not coming out on that date and, for the moment, doesn’t have a release date.” Malik Yusef, a frequent collaborator with Kanye, shed light on the delays, revealing that Ty Dolla Sign is currently re-recording all his parts for the album, including reworked and new verses.
Despite the setback, glimpses of Vultures were shared through previews and listening events, where Kanye showcased unreleased tracks featuring artists such as Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Freddie Gibbs, Lil Baby, Kid Cudi, and even his daughter, North West.
Unfortunately, Minaj declined to clear her verse for the album version of “New Body,” a song that leaked in 2018. Addressing fans on Instagram Live, she explained that the song has been out for three years, and she recently released a new album.
Amid rumors that Vultures might face the fate of being scrapped, similar to past Kanye albums like Yandhi and Turbo Grafx 16, Yusef assured fans that this is not the case. Ty Dolla Sign also underscored his commitment to the project by getting a “¥$” tattooed above his ear last week.
In the meantime, the track “Vultures” featuring Lil Durk and Bump J remains available on streaming platforms. Kanye has been active on Instagram, sharing new pictures of his wife, Bianca Censori, recently. Stay tuned for more updates on the Vultures project.
