Veteran Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor was laid to rest on Friday at his Obosi country home in Anambra State’s Idemili South Local Government Area, drawing heartfelt farewells from family, friends, and colleagues in the film industry.
Among the mourners were Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment Dom Onyenji. Obi, in his condolence speech, expressed deep sorrow over Muonagor’s passing and offered prayers for his soul, urging the grieving family to find strength.
Onyenji highlighted the loss felt by Nollywood, praising Muonagor as a creative talent who significantly contributed to the industry and mentored many aspiring actors. The state government, he noted, was present to honor the late actor’s contributions.
Representing the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), National President Emeka Rollas, through veteran actor Steve Eboh, conveyed condolences and acknowledged Muonagor’s impact as a remarkable figure. Eboh prayed for divine comfort for the family.
State AGN Chairperson Chinyere Anyaegbunam also paid tribute, emphasizing Muonagor’s role as a mentor and father figure in Nollywood. She noted that his legacy would continue through those he guided and inspired in the industry.
