Destiny Etiko Criticizes Big Brother Naija Enthusiasm Amidst Economic Struggles
Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has voiced her frustration over the enthusiasm surrounding the return of Big Brother Naija Season 9, given the current economic hardships in Nigeria.
The popular reality show kicked off on July 28 with 28 housemates competing in pairs under the theme “No Loose Guard,” promising thrilling twists for the next ten weeks.
In a candid Instagram post on Monday, Etiko questioned why many Nigerians seem excited about the show while the country grapples with severe economic issues. She expressed concern that people’s focus on entertainment is overshadowing pressing national problems.
She wrote, “Our country is facing tough times, yet people are thrilled about Big Brother Naija. Is there still enough data money to go around? If no one complains, who will?”
Etiko emphasized her concern for the less fortunate, pointing out that while some manage to get by, many others are struggling. She highlighted the rising crime rates and increasing insecurity, urging for a shift in priorities.
“The situation is dire, and it’s crucial to address these issues sooner rather than later,” she concluded.
