Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, from the former Psquare duo, has shed light on the rift between himself, his twin brother Paul (Rudeboy), and their elder brother, Jude Okoye.
The fallout has been a topic of speculation, with rumors surfacing in June that the brothers were at odds over funds allegedly diverted by Jude, who also served as their music executive.
In a recent interview with City FM in Lagos, Paul revealed that Peter had involved the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in arresting him and Jude. Responding to these claims, Peter clarified in a statement on Monday that he never filed a petition against his twin brother.
Peter explained that he, Paul, and Jude co-owned a management company called Northside Entertainment, which handled all of Psquare’s affairs. However, he discovered another company with a similar name, Northside Music, which was registered under Jude and his wife, Ifeoma Okoye.
The revelation that Ifeoma’s family home was used to register the company raised Peter’s suspicions. When he confronted Paul about it, his brother denied any knowledge of the company. This led Peter to seek legal advice and instruct his lawyers to file a petition against Jude, specifically excluding Paul from the complaint.
Peter revealed that the petition was filed because he found out that “millions of dollars and hundreds of millions of Naira were being secretly diverted into this secret company’s account, Northside Music, from our own Northside Entertainment.”
He added that the EFCC’s investigation confirmed that Jude’s company had been collecting royalties meant for Northside Entertainment for years. Peter also mentioned that during questioning, Jude implicated Paul, which led to the EFCC inviting his twin brother for questioning.
