The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has identified the male cross-dresser found deceased on the Katampe-Mabushi Expressway. Known locally as Abuja Area Mama, the individual was discovered on August 8, 2024.
In a statement on August 21, 2024, SP Josephine Adeh, the police spokesperson, revealed that the deceased is Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict, a 33-year-old from Afikpo North Local Government Area in Ebonyi State. He had been living in Dapé, Karmo Area, Abuja.
The statement clarified that what was initially mistaken for a female body is indeed Benedict. The police have initiated a thorough investigation as directed by Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh.
The deceased’s family has been contacted and is cooperating with the authorities to provide further information. Updates on the case will be shared as they become available.
