The community of Richmond in Fort Bend County, Texas, is in mourning following the discovery of the body of eight-year-old Ryan Akagbusi, a Nigerian boy who had been missing since August 24, 2024.
Ryan, who was autistic and non-verbal, disappeared from his home around 4:30 a.m. His family and local residents mounted a massive search effort, including using K9 units, helicopters, and drones, as well as checking door-to-door.
Ryan’s mother shared that surveillance footage captured him leaving his bedroom at approximately 4:56 a.m., and a neighbor’s video later showed him walking down a nearby street.
Despite the extensive search, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on August 25, 2024, that Ryan’s body had been found in a lake near his last known location. The tragic news was announced on the Sheriff’s official Facebook page, ending the search on a somber note.
