Chidinma Adetshina has been crowned the winner of Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. The event’s grand finale took place at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, August 31.
Previously, Adetshina had withdrawn from the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant due to identity-related controversies. However, she later accepted an invitation from the Silverbird Group, the organizers of Miss Universe Nigeria, to join their competition.
Representing Taraba State, Adetshina emerged victorious after surpassing four other finalists, including representatives from Rivers State, Anambra State, Ondo State, and Edo State.
As the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, Chidinma Adetshina received a grand prize of N10 million in cash along with other rewards.

Adetshina’s victory as Miss Universe Nigeria has set social media abuzz, with opinions sharply divided. Some users believe her win was unjust, considering the other contestants had spent weeks preparing, while others feel she truly earned the title.
Among those critical of the outcome is social media influencer Daniel Regha. He voiced his concerns on X, saying:
“Honestly, it just feels too predictable and unfair that Chidinma, who joined the competition at the last minute, is now crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. The other contestants didn’t stand a chance once she entered, and that’s the reality.”
On the other hand, social media activist Rinu offered her congratulations to Adetshina, posting:
“Congratulations, Miss Chidinma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. The more they complain, the more you shine.”
