Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has opened up about accusations linking her to the death of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Speaking on the Glass House podcast hosted by comedian AY, Iyabo shared how some individuals alleged she was exploiting Mohbad’s death for personal gain, despite her genuine efforts to seek justice for him.
“They even insinuated that I might have killed Mohbad,” she said. “I wasn’t even around when he passed away. I didn’t know him well; my only interaction with him was at the One Africa Music Fest. He seemed like a cool guy, focused on his music, and dealing with his challenges.”
Addressing the rumors, Iyabo questioned the logic behind the accusations. “If I was involved in his death, why would I fight for his body to be exhumed for an autopsy?”
She also dismissed claims that she was using the situation for clout or political ambitions. “There were talks of me being paid or seeking a political position. None of that is true. All I did was advocate for justice for Mohbad,” she stated firmly.
Despite the criticisms, Iyabo said she remains unfazed. “People will always talk, but I know my intentions were pure. Justice for Mohbad was all that mattered.”
