Norwegian police have announced new allegations against Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, adding a second rape accusation to the case. This comes just days after his arrest for an earlier sexual assault allegation.
Marius, born from a previous relationship before Mette-Marit married Crown Prince Haakon, was taken into custody on Monday evening over claims of non-consensual sexual activity. Following further investigation, a second allegation surfaced, prompting police to request his continued detention.
Police lawyer Andreas Kruszewski shared details at a detention hearing, stating that the new case involves an act committed against a woman who was unable to resist. Authorities have also conducted a search of Marius’s home, seizing items relevant to the investigation.
This is not the first controversy surrounding the 27-year-old. In August, he faced accusations of bodily harm after a heated altercation at the Oslo apartment of a woman he was romantically involved with. Norwegian media reported the discovery of a knife embedded in the wall of the woman’s bedroom during that incident.
Marius was later arrested in September for violating a restraining order and, on the day of his latest detention, was reportedly found in a car with the alleged victim of the August case.
Raised alongside his younger step-siblings, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, Marius has no formal role in the royal family and has maintained a private life separate from official duties.
